HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES

Outstanding Design

red dot design award - Kettle
The red dot award is a globally recognised seal of quality for high design quality. The design competition has been in existence since 1954. An international jury only awards the coveted prize to products that clearly stand out from comparable products due to their outstanding design. In 2013, our cordless kettle received the prestigious award.

German Design Award - Toaster
All products that are groundbreaking in their own way in the German and international design landscape are awarded this design prize. In 2012, for example, the volcano5 long-slice toaster will be awarded this internationally renowned design prize for its nomination. The aim of the German Design Award is to discover, present and honour unique design trends. A competition that moves the design scene forward.

iF product design award - Toaster
Since 1953, the IF product design award has honoured outstanding design achievements, which are determined by an international jury of experts according to defined criteria. In 2011, the incomparably slim volcano5 toaster was awarded this globally important prize.

A kettle is used to bring water to the boil. A ritter kettle can do more than just boil water, however, as it only heats the water to the temperature which is required à which is important for the optimum enjoyment of black tea, green tea or coffee.
The kettle can be used to heat water to four predefined temperatures (70°C, 80°C, 95°C and 100°C). To prevent calcification from being rinsed out when pouring the water, the kettle is fitted with a removable lime-scale filter. The kettle also has boil-dry protection, which prevents the kettle from overheating when it only contains a little water or doesn't contain any at all.
The part of the kettle which comes into contact with the water consists of a stainless steel base plate on the one hand, and the plastic polypropylene (PP) on the other. This plastic material is approved for food use and is odourless. The lid of the kettle does not contain bisphenol A (BPA), as BPA is not used in the production of PP. Our kettle is the only kettle in the world which is allowed to carry the Blue Angel eco-label, which it was partially awarded because of its low energy consumption. The reasons for choosing plastic instead of stainless steel are as follows: no risk of burns and, in addition, the double-walled, thermal insulated housing keeps the water warm for longer.
With its heat-resistant acrylic housing, the ritter kettle doesn’t get hot on the outside and therefore provides protection against burning.
Cordless means that the kettle doesn’t have a power cord and can therefore be used freely. The power cord is situated in the 360° rotating base, which has two cord exits for pulling out the cord.
It isn’t possible to say for certain, but in general, the greater the power, the faster the water is brought to the boil.
The kettle has overheating protection. This ensures that the kettle switches off automatically when it reaches the set temperature. The kettle also switches off automatically when it is removed from the base.
The appliance is in standby when the battery plug isn’t removed from the mains. The electricity which flows in standby mode is below the maximum statutory limit.
As long as the maximum fill level isn’t surpassed when boiling the water, no hot water will splash from the kettle.
Add 0.7 l water to the water reservoir and then fill with common household vinager to the 1 l marking. Or fill with 0.9 l water and add vinegar essence to the 1 l marking. Close the lid, place the kettle on its base and press the button for 100° C. Wait until the kettle has finished and turns itself off. Pick up the kettle by its handle and carefully pour it out. Repeat the boiling process 3 more times using fresh clean water. Info: you can also use a decalcifying solution, just follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
Clean and/or decalcify your kettle regularly to prevent calcification.
We recommend that you clean the kettle with household vinegar or clear vinegar essence.
The kettle shouldn’t be disposed of with the standard household waste at the end of its service life. It should be handed in at a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
In contrast to other toasters, ritter toasters do not have two slots for toasting purposes, but just one elongated slot – hence the name “elongated slot toaster”. The toasting process is started by simply pushing down the lever. After the set time/toasting degree has elapsed, the toasting process ends and the toasted food is discharged upwards.
Different designs of toaster are available from ritter, depending on what you want from your toaster. Each toaster is a high-quality product which is also quick and easy to use.
The prices of our toasters varies according to the model. You can choose between a toaster with glass panels in black, red or white, a toaster with aluminium panels or an individually designed toaster with your own pattern on the glass panels.
We aren’t able to say with certainty. It is generally the case, however, that the higher the performance (as shown on the type plate) and the longer the operating time, the higher the power consumption.
All ritter toasters require between 850 – 1.000 Watts.
If the food gets stuck in the toasting shaft, the toaster will still switch off after the set toasting degree has been reached.
We use “heating wires” which are wound on a carrier (mica plate). Heating wires, or quartz heating rods, are two different but equivalent processes. They don't have any particular advantages or disadvantages.
The set toasting degree is displayed digitally on LEDs, and is retained with the memory function for the next toasting process so it doesn’t always have to be set again – this also applies when the toaster is disconnected from the mains.
The slim design of the toaster means its glass fronts can heat up. However, the temperatures achieved are within the standard specifications. There is therefore no risk of fire.
The toasting shaft of the toaster is approx. 10 cm high and approx. 25 cm in length.
The toasting shaft is approx. 10 cm high and approx. 25 cm in length. It is therefore suitable for maxitoasts.
The cord is approx. 108 cm in length.
The toaster has a toasting level setting with LED display, which can be adjusted as desired. Furthermore, the toaster has a reheat function to reheat already toasted toast without toasting it again and a defrost function to defrost the toast before toasting it.
Depending on the kind of food you want to process, there are different blades that you should use. Not every blade is suitable for the same processing as the other. The universal cutter is most frequently used, because, as its name suggests, this blade offers very universal use, and is ideal for chopping, mincing, pureeing, mixing, stirring and blending. For further information, refer to “Hand blender attachments”.
A hand blender is used for the quick and easy processing of food, such as the preparation of soups, smoothies and sauces, etc.
To start the ritter hand blender, press and hold the unlock button first. Within two seconds, you should then press power button, and the hand blender will start. Make sure that you only start the hand blender when it is safely in the container.
Different hand blenders are available, depending on your requirements. With the cordless hand blender from ritter, you benefit from the fact that you are no longer tied to a power outlet and can use the blender wherever you like.
When processing solid food, use the universal cutter and work your way slowly from top to bottom. Be sure to turn the blender gently using your wrist and hand. To improve the quality of the processing, lift the hand blender a little before lowering it onto the food again, applying light pressure.
Yes, the hand blender is also suitable for processing hot food, such as soups, sauces, porridge etc. Take care not to dip the hand blender too far (only the blender shaft) into the food.
Stop using the hand blender immediately and contact our in-house customer and repair service straight away.
Yes, an immersion blender is the same appliance as a hand blender.
We are unable to answer this question for certain, because it always depends on the food that you want to process and how long you want to use the hand blender. Our cordless blender is one of the strongest in its class, however, with a power of 120 Watts.
If you value personal advice, we recommend that you approach a specialist retailer. Your questions will be answered immediately and competently by experienced employees. If you would prefer to find the information you need yourself, you can, of course, find out more in the internet. If you have any questions about the ritter hand blender, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.
The ritter hand blender is powered by a premium lithium-ion battery – no need for inconvenient cables, but absolute freedom when cooking – any time and any place without socket. Important: Fully charge the hand blender once before using it for the first time. For the sake of ease of use, the device is not switched off completely if the blade/knife becomes blocked, instead it switches into a pulsating operating mode. In this mode, the device will be jerking slightly. Only when the blade/knife becomes severely blocked, the device is automatically switched off completely to protect the motor.
The attachments can be changed quickly, easily and in just a few steps. To insert an attachment, take the desired attachment with a tea towel in your hand and push it on the drive shaft. Make sure that the drive shaft pin is firmly seated in the slot on the attachment. To remove an attachment, grasp it with a tea towel and carefully remove it. Caution, risk of injury: - Switch off the hand blender before inserting or removing attachments. - Keep your fingers away from the buttons. - The blades of the attachments may be sharp (e.g. cutting knife)! Don’t touch them with your bare hands.
The optional accessories make the use of the ritter hand blender even more versatile. In addition to the universal cutter, three other stainless steel attachments – cutting knife, stirring disk and whipping disk – as well as a stainless steel blending cup are available. The standard fitting comes with a plastic blending cup and the universal cutter. Also, the hand blender has three speed settings. This makes the device an ideal kitchen aid. Besides, it is optimally equipped for a wide range of recipes.
This cutter is versatile and suitable for crushing, chopping, puréeing, blending, stirring and straining most foods. The special shape of the universal cutter makes it possible to prepare both hard and solid food in an appetizing way. In most cases, the universal cutter does an excellent job as a preparatory step, but hard food should always be cut into pieces of about 1-2 cm in size beforehand. This attachment is particularly suitable for processing the following food: - Vegetables and fruits - Sauces and soups - Juices, shakes and smoothies - Runny cake batters - Baby food - Butter variations (e.g. herb or tomato butter; note: use soft butter, this makes processing much easier!)
The cutting knife should be used for fibrous foods. The blades are sharp and cut both meat and fish as well as fibrous fruits and vegetables particularly well and gently. Meat is best processed if free of bones and tendons. The cutting knife is particularly suitable for processing the following food: - Meat - Fish - Herbs - Fibrous fruits (e.g. pineapple) - Fibrous vegetables (e.g. asparagus, spinach) - Baby food - Butter variations (e.g. herb or tomato butter; note: use soft butter, this makes processing much easier!)
Using the whipping disk, foods such as cream, egg white or shakes become extra foamy and airy. The special shape makes emulsifying salad dressings, sauces etc. particularly easy within a matter of seconds. The whipping disk is particularly suitable for: - Cream - Milk - Egg white - Particularly delicate cake batter (note: the ingredients are blended much better if you lift the hand blender out of the batter and then put it back in the batter while running. This makes the batter airy.) - Sauce hollandaise
The stirring disk is ideal for stirring thick and creamy food. Even light batters for pancakes can be stirred quickly and easily with the stirring disk. Like the whipping disk, the stirring disk can also be used to emulsify salad dressings and sauces. The stirring disk (in most cases in combination with the lowest speed setting for the best result) is particularly suitable for: - Mayonnaise - Sauces - Mashed food (e.g. mashed potatoes or baby food) - Delicate runny batters - Marinades
Maximum speed setting The hand blender always starts with the maximum speed setting. It is used for most preparations, but in particular for hard food and large quantities. It is recommended for cutting almost any type of food. Medium speed setting The medium speed setting is best suited for blending food evenly and gently. It is the right setting between puréeing, crushing and whipping and foaming. Minimum speed setting At the minimum speed setting, more air is brought into the food during processing, i.e. it is easier and more convenient to foam up cream, egg white, milk, soups and sauces. The minimum speed setting is particularly suitable for food which must be prepared slowly, such as mayonnaise or sauce hollandaise. The minimum speed setting is also recommended for delicate food and smaller quantities.
As a matter of fact, the ritter hand blender can be used in any cup with a flat base, including cooking pots and pans. For blending, narrow and tall cups are much better suited than flat and wide pots, because the risk of splashing is lower. In order not to damage coated pots, the attachments must always be inserted correctly. Make sure that the slot on the attachment is firmly seated on the drive shaft pin. In addition, care should be taken not to damage the bottom or walls of coated pots with the metal cutter cover. Important: Never fill the blending cup completely. While blending, the filled liquid rises up the walls, which can lead to accidental splashing. Therefore, do not switch on the hand blender until it is in the pot or cup. If you want to process larger quantities with the hand blender, it is recommended to divide them into several smaller portions. This ensures the smoothest blending results.
The hand blender should not be switched on until the blender (the cover including attachment) is in the cup. This also means that the hand blender should always be switched off before removing it from the cup. It is also important that the hand blender is always led to the cup and not vice versa. To switch on the hand blender, hold down the unlock button and within 2 seconds briefly press the power button located directly below it. The unlock button must be kept pressed during operation. The hand blender starts with the maximum speed setting. To change the speed setting, briefly press the power button. To switch off the device, simply release the unlock button. During the use of the hand blender, a few things should be taken into account in order to process food even better: As a general rule, processing food with liquids is always easier than processing dry foods. When processing food with liquids, please note that the hand blender should not be switched on until it reached the bottom of the cup. When processing food without liquids, the hand blender should be switched on first and then lowered onto the food to be blended, working from top to bottom through the food.
If the food to be blended is rather tough or solid, make a slight twisting movement in your wrist, lift the hand blender a little bit and lower it again onto the food to be blended applying light pressure. Take care not to press the hand blender too hard on the food. If the attachment begins to block, the hand blender automatically switches into a pulsating mode. The device starts to jerk (repeated, fast switching on and off of the device) so that even the toughest food can be processed. If puréeing or straining soft food, the hand blender is held at an angle into the food. Be careful, however, not to hold the hand blender at an angle which is too steep. It is recommended to let the hand blender run at the highest speed setting at first. The specially developed shape of both the universal cutter and the cutting knife as well as the suction effect created when holding at an angle do the major part of the job. Caution: The cover must always be completely immersed, otherwise the risk of splashing is very high.
In order to whip food airily or stir creamy, the hand blender should be dipped as straight as possible into the food. Do not start the device until shortly above the bottom of the cup. Tilt the hand blender slightly and move it up the rim of the cup. To prevent possible splashing, use your hand to cover the opening of the blending cup. Be careful and use this method only with lukewarm food. Repeat this process until the blended food has reached the desired texture.
To blend shakes, smoothies, sauces and soups extra creamy, we recommend using the stirring disk as the last step – after using the universal cutter, for example.
Important: The hand blender must not be cleaned in the dishwasher. The attachments are dishwasher-safe, but the blades of the knives may become blunt. To prevent food residues from accumulating, clean the hand blender thoroughly immediately after each use by following the steps below: - Dip the hand blender's blender shaft, including the used attachment, into the blending cup or a similar pot filled with warm water and a small amount of detergent. - Switch on the hand blender. Let it run shortly in the detergent solution. - Empty the blending cup or pot and refill it with clear, clean water and let the hand blender run again shortly. - To make sure that no food residues have accumulated, remove the attachment and clean it separately. - If necessary, wipe the motor unit (upper part with handle), the hand blender’s blender shaft (shaft) and the charging station with a damp cloth. - Wipe all rinsed parts dry carefully. Note, risk of damage of the hand blender: - Do not use abrasive cleaners, aggressive liquids, sponges with rough surfaces, or hard brushes. - Do not leave the blender shaft in liquids for a longer period, otherwise discolouration may occur. - The hand blender must not run for a longer period in “idle operation”, as this can lead to damaged seals.
Stored in the supplied charging station, the hand blender is always charged and ready to use. The LED indicator always displays the battery charge level so that you know when the device must be put into the charging station again.
Like all other ritter products, the hand blender is manufactured in Germany. It has a high material quality and mainly consists of high-quality and robust metal. Our products have always been characterised by high-quality workmanship and durability. All accessories and spare parts can be reordered at any time.
The lithium ion battery’s operating time depends on the respective kind of food that needs to be cut. It lasts about 20 minutes while puréeing liquid or creamy foods like soups and about 15 minutes while chopping raw vegetables or while preparing doughs.
In keeping with our sustainability vision, the hand blender is equipped with a lithium-ion battery which, due to an intelligent charging technology, is gently and slowly charged without overcharging: charging stops automatically when the battery is full. This ensures a particularly long battery life. In case of a defect, it is not necessary to dispose of the entire hand blender. You can order a spare battery and change it in just a few simple steps.
The hand blender has a power output of 120 watts.
The coffee machine can be used to make up to 8 cups of 125 ml filter coffee. The number of cups can be read on the water level indicator in the water tank. The water tank and brewing system of the machine are located above the filter. The short distance between the water tank and filter reduces temperature losses and therefore saves energy. The thermal jug is lined with a vacuum stainless steel cylinder, so that it can be used to both keep the coffee warm and as a serving jug. The thermal jug holds up to 1 litre of coffee. The coffee machine switches off automatically shortly after the brewing process. The standby consumption totals 0 Watts. The automatic limescale stop function prevents premature wear and tear and increased energy consumption due to calcified parts of the appliance.
This is a matter of taste and depends on personal preference. There is a guideline, however, that says that you should put about 5-7 g of ground coffee per cup into the machine. On the ritter coffee machine, with a maximum fill level (8 cups), that would be approx. 40 g of coffee powder.
It isn't possible to make a blanket statement here as both have their advantages and disadvantages. Here they are: Disposable filters - Easier to clean because the coffee grounds can be disposed of together with the filter - Different versions as they are adapted to the variety of coffee - New filters have to be bought regularly (higher costs, damage to the environment) Permanent filters: - Experts claim that a good quality permanent filter results in a superior flavour of the coffee - It isn't necessary to buy new filters all the time (cost saving, environmental protection) - More frequent cleaning requirement, leading to higher water consumption - Can’t be matched with the type of coffee
A thermal jug has the following advantages over a glass jug: - Its internal, breakproof stainless steel cylinder prevents the coffee jug from breaking - It can also be used as a serving jug on the table, keeping the coffee warm - The thermal jug is insulated, preventing scalding - The thermal jug is energy-saving, as there is no need for an energy-consuming heating hotplate
At the end of its service life this product may not be disposed of as part of normal domestic waste. It must be taken to a dedicated collection point for recycling electrical and electronic devices.
Descale your coffee machine regularly. Regular de-scaling saves energy. The frequency with which you need to de-scale depends on the hardness of the water in your local area. The following signs indicate that your coffee machine needs to be de-scaled: - The appliance switches off automatically, even though there is still some water in the water tank (automatic limescale detection feature). - There is visible lime-scale build-up in the water tank and in the riser tube - The brewing process is noticeably longer. - The brewing process is noisier than usual. - A significant amount of steam escapes during the brewing process.
To descale the appliance, follow the steps below: - Insert an empty paper filter into the filter holder to catch the limescale. - Mix 1.1 litres of de-scaling solution following the manufacturer’s instructions (if using vinegar or lemon essence, mix 1 part essence and 2 parts water). - Fill the water tank with descaling solution up to the “max” level shown on the water level indicator. - Switch the appliance on using the power switch. - Allow approx. two cupfuls to run through the appliance before switching it off.Leave the descaling solution to take effect for 20 to 30 minutes. - Switch the appliance on again and allow the remaining descaling solution to run through it. Note: The appliance may switch off automatically, even though there is still some de-scaling solution in the water tank. If this happens, leave the solution to take effect again and then switch the appliance back on. - Rinse twice with fresh water. - Repeat the de-scaling process if necessary.
In Germany, the peeler is known as a sparing peeler. This is because the narrow gap between the sharp blades allows for the food to be peeled very thinly. It is therefore peeled very “sparingly”.
The handle of the peeler is made of high-quality plastic, while the special mobile blade is made of stainless steel.
The flexibility of the blade makes the peeler suitable for right- and left-hand operation.
Yes, the peeler can be put in the dishwasher.
The peeling thickness depends on the nature of the material to be peeled (hard or soft) and the pressure which is exerted on the peeler.
Yes, the blade can be replaced.
No, the blade cannot be sharpened but it can be replaced if it becomes blunt.
The eyelet (eye lifter) on the side of the peeler is designed to remove potato eyes or discolourations. It can also be used to hang up the peeler to save storage space.
All foods contain food acids, salts and moisture that can attack the material of the blade. We recommend cleaning the peeler thoroughly under warm water after use. Otherwise, so-called rust film can form even on stainless steel.
